Description
Description | As an independent think tank, the EPC’s mission is to defend EU values & interests and foster European integration through analysis and debate. In 2024, the EPC will organise at least 50 events and produce 25 publications linked to Project ELEVATED, reaching all of the target recipients described under ‘Dissemination and Communication’. In line with the EPC’s mission and the CERV Programme’s priorities, ELEVATED will help to develop Europe’s public space on values, policies & citizens’ rights, and empower & engage citizens to actively take part in the debate on the EU’s future, using/by means of a set of horizontal activities and three thematic pillars. Horizontal activities will engage citizens in building Europe's public sphere and (i) discuss EU values, policies, and functioning with key stakeholders and the broader public; (ii) support networks and the trans-nationalisation of EU policy debates; (iii) rethink, update, and monitor developments to modernise EU democracy following the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE); (iv) monitor, analyse, and influence debate and thinking on the 2024 European elections, the EU leadership (s)election, and the setting of the institutions’ political priorities and guidelines for 2024-2029; (v) analyse and describe the wide-ranging implications of the war in Ukraine for the EU and its member states to the general public; and (vi) monitor and inform the wider public about the implementation of the EU Strategic Compass for Security and Defence. These objectives will be implemented via three key pillars: 1) Defending democratic and fundamental rights, and safeguarding security in the context of the Zeitenwende 2) Promoting welfare, social inclusion, and strong economic governance in an era of ‘permacrisis’ 3) Enabling and empowering European citizens and businesses to support the green and energy transition |
