Description
Description | European Kids in the Digital Age New technologies and digital consumption are transforming our lives for good and worse. Today’s children are born digital and spend considerable time on digital media and gaming. Research shows that parents are finding it increasingly difficult to navigate the online markets and understand what their children are doing online. That represents a threat to the parent role, but also a worry for society as kids already from the first very crucial years are heavily influenced by non-European content by companies from Asia and the US. The objectives of European Kids are: 1) To develop a digital universe for European Kids in the age 1-8 years. European Kids will build on strong European children culture IP’s and include video, games, books and audio. European Kids are working closely with experts on children development and their learning capacity by age in order to make sure that all content on the platform are tailor made for specific age groups e.g. 1-2, 3-4 years etc. 2) To stimulate interaction between digital activity and non-digital activities with special focus on sport and culture. 3) To include content which addresses diversity, gender equality, misinformation, sustainability and environmental challenges. 4) To give the parents a “Parents Module” tool, which will enable the parents to monitor the children’s digital behaviour and help them finding a good balance between digital and non-digital activities. European Kids will contribute to increasing the visibility, availability and diversity of European content and increase the potential audience of European content in the digital age. The project will therefore also contribute to the main objective of the call – to encourage innovative approaches to content creation, access, distribution and promotion across culture and creative sectors and with other sectors, including by taking into account the digital shift, covering both market and non-market dimensions. |
