Description

Description

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) was established in 2018 with the support of Creative Europe. 11 leading European media art organisations and festivals formed the pioneering platform to support emerging artists within a two months intercultural residency production ranging from media installations, virtual reality, robotics, AI and Bio Art, amongst others, to present and promote their works in group shows / showcases. Selected VIA OPEN CALLS, the artistic projects deal with the most urgent challenges of our time, including climate catastrophe, environmental degradation, social inequalities, inclusion, digital bias and surveillance, open source tools and technical competence and awareness of citizens. Artists bring these issues to the public and develop alternative ideas. Continuing and developing their 2018 successfully established brand, Werkleitz and its members seek to extend its activities to not just host and produce emerging artists, but to also create a major international platform to promote the artists’ productions and to foster knowledge transfer between artists and institutions, not only from Europe but across the world. 15 renowned European institutions will host 45 media art residencies for new innovative collaborative productions in the field of art, digital media, technology and science for a total of min. 90 artists. In addition 100 mobility / presentation grants will be supported to show EMAP works internationally and up to 400 artists will participate in 28 capacity building workshops. The results will be evaluated, documented and published on the online platform of EMAP. The international EMAP network will be extended to up to 200 organisations to showcase EMAP’s emerging artists, to share information in our monthly newsletter and social media for the international media art scene or to participate in capacity building workshops.
