Description

Description

The European Platform of Integrating Cities (EPIC) aims to improve the integration of migrants at local level by creating a network of Local Authorities (LAs) and their implementing partners (NGOs) that will A) share knowledge and best practices of migrant integration, B) engage in peer-to-peer exchanges based on mutual priorities and different expertise and C) integrate efficient practices within their local policies. The project will gradually equip beneficiaries with practical skills to integrate in their local migrant integration practices. The project will: ● Form a network including LAs, NGOs, and European-wide Associations and their Members ● Understand the priorities of LAs on migrant integration ● Promote a LA-driven peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and practices through meetings and job shadowing that pairs LAs with different experiences ● Equip LAs with expertise to implement pilot projects in their territories ● Promote networking beyond EPIC with partners that can support migration integration ● Promote local-to-local cooperation among LAs ● Address issues of media and negative narratives on migration, and develop the capacities of LAs to counter them with evidence-based and impactful discourses ● Improve the integration of migrants at local level ● Create a European dimension of migrant integration The direct beneficiaries of the project are 6 LAs and from 6 different Member States. EPIC also includes 7 NGOs (of which one officially representing an additional LA), 2 Europe-wide Associations and 1 University for research activities. The medium- and long-term beneficiaries are both migrant populations and the hosting societies. This 36-months pilot initiative aims to create a European dimension of migrant integration and after the pilot is completed the results and outputs of this project should be expanded to other cities in Europe.
