As funding for existing EU resettlement schemes comes to a close, the European Commission has called upon member states to resettle 50,000 persons in need of international protection while a more permanent Union Resettlement Framework is negotiated. To date, 39,758 pledges have been made from 19 Member States, with an implementation target of May 2019. The expected impact of the European Resettlement and Integration Technical Assistance (EURITA) project is to improve the integration of resettled third country nationals in EU Member States through systematic, quality cultural orientation activities and targeted capacity building of stakeholders providing integration services to refugees at the community level. Project deliverables will be made available to all Member States through the EURITA network and through its partner networks. Tailored support for cultural orientation and extended capacity building will be delivered in smaller member states, where there is enthusiasm for resettlement programmes, but where there has been less focus from existing EC initiatives.
