European Resilience from Space (ERS) Programme

planned

The ERS programme is a strategic initiative by the European Space Agency to enhance Europe's resilience in managing emergencies and responding to disasters through advanced space capabilities. It comprises three interconnected pillars: high-performance Earth observation capabilities for crisis monitoring and rapid response, integration with the EU's secure communication constellation IRIS² for secure and reliable data transmission, and the accelerated implementation of Celeste, the Low Earth Orbit preparatory phase of the FutureNAV Programme, to enhance positioning, navigation, and timing services. The programme emphasizes pooling and sharing of national assets while retaining national control, ensuring robust and sovereign European space infrastructure.
