The Bureau Européen du Scoutisme (BES) is the secretariat office based in Brussels, part of the European Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) - a global youth and volunteer-led educational movement with over 57 million young members worldwide, of whom more than 2 million are active in the European Scout Region. The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, among others, by providing them with opportunities to participate in programmes, events, activities, and projects that contribute to their growth as active citizens. Through these initiatives we help build a better world, where young people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society by inspiring others to act. Scouting offers a wide range of educational programs and activities to children and youth, but also targets adult leaders through a lifelong learning journey. The mission of Scouting is to empower young people via non-formal education to build a world where they will be self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in their community (local, national, and global) through active citizenship. As the European network of National Scout Organisations/Associations, we are offering our member organisations spaces to share best practices, policies to increase the quality of their non-formal education practices and tailored support to build their capacities. We also have a mission to contribute to the youth policy development in Europe and represent the voice and interest of the 2 million young people affiliated to Scouting towards the European Institutions.
