European Statistics Competition 2024-2025 – Participation

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS) will participate in the project called “European Statistics Competition 2024/2025 - Participation” (ESC 2024/25) and implement the national level as well as participate in the European phase of the ESC for the eighth time. SURS intends to conduct the ESC 2024/25 in cooperation with the Statistical Society of Slovenia and with the support of the coordinating NSI and Eurostat. All activities will be executed according to the planned schedule. We will adapt the ESC 2024/25 to the national circumstances as closely as possible to the other participating NSIs to ensure comparability and fairness for the European part of the competition. We will aim to expand the participation in the ESC 2024/25 and will include the good promotional, communication and dissemination practices from the previous editions of the competition as well as try to benefit from new promotional approaches. Partnerships with various educational institutions will enhance the effectiveness of our promotional campaign. The project strategy focuses on spreading statistical literacy among the main target groups – upper secondary school pupils and teachers. With the help of this action pupils participating in the competition gain insight into various statistical data and products and develop skills in processing, visualising and interpreting data, while teachers have the opportunity to present statistics to pupils in a different way, with practical examples of its use. We believe that our planned activities will contribute to better communication, promotion and understanding of national as well as European statistics and to facilitation of their use.
