In our days it is very important for the NSIs, to communicate all types of users in order to prevent misunderstanding and misinterpreting of official statistics, not only to simply make official statistics available to users. Statistical literacy is an integral part of communication activities of the NSI which aim to give an opportunity to all stakeholders to understand and reason with statistical data. It applies to all age groups and categories of society to better understand data presented to them in its various forms in daily life and, consequently, allow them to make better evidence-based and informed decisions. It can help avoid confusion and misinterpretation and can facilitate the comparison of statistics. The European Statistics Competition (ESC) is one of the initiatives taken by the European Statistical System to support statistical literacy. ESC will be organised for the 8th time in Bulgaria.
