Following the success of the last edition accompanied by a lot of positive feedback from teachers, Destatis would like to participate again in the next round of the European Statistics Competition (ESC) 2025/2026. For next years competition we are planning on extending our marketing activities to be able to attract more participants. We want to further strengthen the objective of getting young people interested in statistics, as we have noticed a great enthusiasm among students for working with statistical data during previous ESC rounds. To achieve this goal, we are focusing even more on the integration of social media than in last year's competition. The possibility to reach a big audience via marketing measures will be used to spread information about the European dimension of the European Statistics Competition. Not only in order to attract the participants but also in order to leave a lasting effect at the touchpoints of our campaign regarding the European dimension in the statistical system. Data literacy has been increasingly important, especially in times of disinformation campaigns and the growing influence of anti-democratic forces. The aim of the ESC 2025/2026 in Germany is to make this skill accessible to young people via this a competition. With an expanded range of products for schools, we want to promote the integration of official data in the classroom.
