Description

Description

The European Union and our Life in the Countryside (EURLife) project aims to enhance students' understanding of the European Union’s role in rural life, particularly regarding agricultural and ecological policies. Given that 90% of the participating students come from farming backgrounds, the project seeks to raise awareness about the EU's impact on rural communities, including decision-making processes, elections, and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The initiative will integrate EU-related content into subjects such as English, Maths, History, Geography, and Biology throughout secondary education. Activities will include student-led projects, exhibitions in local villages, virtual discussions with MEPs, and a school trip to EU institutions. The project addresses a growing disconnect between rural communities and the EU, highlighted by increasing Euroscepticism and misinformation. Through an engaging curriculum, students will conduct surveys on public attitudes toward the EU, produce digital content to promote EU policies, and participate in debates and role-plays simulating European Parliament sessions.
