The city of Málaga is a privileged area by the Mediterranean sea, opposite to African Mediterranean countries and South Europe's main entrance gate. Due to this location, the centre of excellence to be set up would be directly related to a number of key elements involved in EU security and peaceful integration in a more global geographical escenario and population. The city of Málaga constitutes a cornerstone in the building up of an EU integral system of control of immigration; peaceful coexistence of many different cultures at many social and economic levels; and security and countering of organised crime and terrorism. Police and other law enforcement bodies, lawyers, prison agents, intercultural mediators and integration officers, judges, magistrates, prosecutors, intelligence service officers and, finally, many social and youngsters organisations, co-operate all together in order to make the best result out of all these resources and exchange of information, but also out of this most rich and diversified citizenship. In this regard, the University of Malaga, which already plays a crucial role in the production of educational contents in many fields of action, also enjoys a privileged role in reaching all different age and economic segments of population, specialized workers and general audience. In this regard many specialized partner agreements have been concluded with UMA, particularly supported by the city hall and other public local and regional institutions, enlarging the reach of those educational activities and technical training programmes (i.e. civil servants). The main aim of the proposed centre of excellence would be producing this kind of contents, training courses, specialized teaching programmes, updated resources and general influence -through social media and IT resources- on this EU south corner of population where it is much needed and may play a most important role in configurating a peaceful coexistence of culturally diversified populations.
