Description
Description | The Jean Monnet Module “EU ECOCARE – European Union Commitment on Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies” aims to strengthen the EU’s leadership in climate action, support its policies for a fair green transition, and meet students' demand for deeper insights into these issues. The module consists of 56 teaching hours across 14 teaching activities, analyzing the EU’s internal and external climate action through its laws, policies, and strategies, with a focus on human rights protection, environmental litigation, and policy integration. The EU ECOCARE team includes researchers, professors, and experts with strong professional and personal commitment to environmental issues, ensuring career diversity and gender balance. The participation of experts will enhance the quality of teaching and serve as a multiplier for communication and dissemination efforts. The teaching approach will combine formal and non -formal educational methods and will be focused on environmental democracy, fostering a shared reflection on how policy decisions can ensure inclusive participation, particularly for marginalized groups. The module will be open to all University of Messina students, with special attention to those enrolled in English-taught programs, many of whom come from Third Countries. Moreover, EU ECOCARE will promote dialogue between the scientific community, policymakers, and civil society through public events. This approach will contribute to a deeper understanding of EU climate policies and adaptation strategies. |
