Description
Description | The European Union is implementing the Critical Raw Materials Act to build up its capacities and strengthen the resilience of its critical raw material supply chains. The EU aims to source 10% of its critical raw materials needs via domestic extraction, 40% processing, and 25% recycling by 2030, reducing dependency on external suppliers, particularly China, which dominates processing capacity for rare earths and battery grade materials. The EU is also focusing on streamlining permitting processes and boosting manufacturing through the Industrial Accelerator Act and the RESourceEU Action Plan to support strategic projects and reduce dependency by up to 50% by 2029 for critical materials. |
