The Entry-Exit System (EES) is a biometric border control system implemented across 29 European countries in the Schengen area. It registers each border crossing by non-EU nationals, capturing biometric identifiers such as facial images and fingerprints, and stores this data in a central database. The system aims to strengthen border control, detect overstayers, reduce document fraud, and improve migration statistics, while also making travel more efficient through automated checks.
