Description
Description | "European Union Knowledge for High School Students (EU.Kiss) is a project aimed at high school students. We can see an unfavorable tendency in which the legitimacy of the membership of individual countries in the Community is being questioned, which has led, among others, to Brexit. Especially young people are vulnerable to disinformation in this area. The EU.Kiss program aims to make this generation of Europeans aware of the benefits of the European community, including a special emphasis on European values and the functioning of European institutions. The benefits of the European Union seem obvious to them. We want to show that without the existence of the Community, such values as democracy, the protection of human rights or the rights of minorities can be destroyed. We want to achieve our idea by preparing a new subject ""Knowledge about the European Union"" (textbook and other teaching aids) and testing this type of classes among students of Da Vinci High School in Poland. We want our school subject to be attractive and engaging. Therefore, instead of traditional lessons, we will arrange its program on the basis of specific days celebrated within the European Union (eg European Justice Day) and information campaigns among students (eg related to the International Day Against Homophobia). The remaining classes will be based on methods that are innovative in Poland, such as Design Thinking workshops or Oxford style debates. An important element of the program will be an educational trip to Auschwitz on the Holocaust Remembrance Day - a place where European values have been destroyed. 250 students of our school will benefit from the results of the application and thousands of people in Poland and the entire European Union will benefit from making the created materials available. The result will be the creation of an educational program, one textbook and a dozen teaching aids for the new subject Knowledge about the European Union." |
