Description
Description | This project will effectively educate students on the values and objectives of the EU by placing a spotlight on the EU for all students who participate in 'Transition Year'. The project will span across five established subjects areas, English, History, Modern Foreign Language (French and German), Guidance and Environmental Science, and will intertwine with a timetabled modular subject, EU Studies. This will provide the foundation for the cross curricular learning to take place in a meaningful and interesting way that will engage teenagers. Along side EU aims and values, media literacy and disinformation will also form part EU Studies. As a digital school, technology will be used throughout by both teachers and students, and will facilitate additional student experiences such as a virtual European Parliament experience. A wide variety of teaching methods will be used to deliver the project including card games, debates, talks from experts including MEP's, and preparing for Europe Day ensuring all students are engaged. Following delivery of the module of learning on the EU, Transition Year students will be invited to design and deliver a lesson on EU values to junior students. This increase the impact of the project beyond Transition Year students within our school walls. Social media and newsletters will also carry the message of the project outside the boundaries of the school to stakeholders such as parents and the wider community. Students who are participating in Erasmus + trips to Germany and France will help carry the message to other countries. Given the number of subjects involved, EU literacy among teachers will also naturally improve as more teachers engage with the content of the project. |
