Description
Description | European Union: Lessons on Political and Economic Integration from Europe in the 20th Century for Latin America in the 21st Century This Jean Monnet module aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the process of political and economic integration of the European Union, analyzing its evolution from the post-war period to the present day. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining history, political science and economics, the course will address the key milestones of European integration, the institutional and political structure of the EU, as well as the crises and challenges it has faced in the 21st century. The module will also include a comparative perspective with Latin America, exploring the experiences of regional integration in the region and the lessons that can be drawn from the European model for the development of governance in Latin America. Relations between the EU and Latin America will be analyzed, assessing the impact of trade agreements, political and economic cooperation, and the role of the EU as a global actor. The course is aimed at economics students, and will provide them with analytical tools to understand supranational integration mechanisms and their relevance in regional contexts. The methodology will include lectures, debates, case studies and analysis of key historical and political documents. This initiative will contribute to strengthening knowledge about the EU in Latin America and foster debate on regional integration, promoting the teaching of European studies in Latin American universities and consolidating academic networks in the region. |
