Description
Description | "The motto ""European Union: One World of Learning"" perfectly aligns with the idea of teaching about the European Union at our school, which has an owl as its emblem. As part of this education, we would like to focus on several key areas that will help students better understand this important institution. The first step is to introduce students to the history of the EU. It is essential for them to realize how the European Union has developed from its humble beginnings to the present day. They should learn about significant events and treaties, such as the Maastricht Treaty and the Lisbon Treaty, which have fundamentally impacted the structure and objectives of the union. Another important area is the foundational ideas of the EU. Students should be familiar with its main principles, such as peace, cooperation among states, freedom of movement, protection of human rights, and economic integration. These values form the basis of the European project, and it is crucial for young people to understand them as an integral part of their civic awareness. Next, we would like to introduce students to the main institutions of the EU, such as the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of the EU. It is important for students to understand how these institutions function and what their roles are in the decision-making process. Last but not least, we would like to focus on current challenges such as climate change, migration, and security. Students should be informed about how the EU is responding to these issues and how it strives to find effective solutions. This will stimulate their critical thinking and encourage active participation in future public debates. Finally, fostering a sense of European identity and citizenship is also key. Students should understand how they can contribute to the future of the EU. The aim is to deepen their awareness of the European Union and its significance, so they become informed and engaged citizens who understand the values and challenges the EU faces. In this way, we will enable them to actively participate in shaping their European future." |
