Description

Description

Our European Urban Recovery Town Twinning is fully aimed and dedicated to combating the current political and ecological crises change through sustainable green community learning. We wish to organise a unique citizens' meeting of key stakeholders of over 150 invited guests from Poland (Dabrowa Tarnowska Regional and City Municipality) – based on over 20 years of successful European twinning partnership. There will be over 150 local stakeholders, experts and further hundreds of local citizens involved in the outdoor activities and interactive meetings. There is a clear gap in our understanding of the scope, speed, depth and impact of these crises and there is a general consensus both internationally, across Europe and in our cities, that the key to working solutions lies in elaborating new models for participatory governance, a new engagement of citizens and a redefinition of local and European identity. Combined with sustainable, Green urban initiatives that ensure awareness raising, problem- solving skills and a wide range of civic engagement in the field of green urban development and governance we aim to develop a local model for European Urban Recovery. The citizens’ meeting shall include a number of activities: it is planned as a diverse and rich sequence of events combining elements of an informal international conference highlighting a series of lectures, best practice presentations, a number of interactive workshops, cultural, educational and even sports events on local, regional and European patterns of community learning, including the role of green municipalities and local stakeholders. There will be site-visits to local green community hubs such as Green urban EU-co-funded development sites, community centres and educational facilities involving green, eco-minded educational sites, independent innovative hubs, green and digital social development project areas. It will provide a European development and learning framework to exchange best practice.
