"European Week of Sport 2021 - Ireland Sport Ireland is the designated National Coordinating Body by the European Commission for the European Week of Sport in Ireland. With a focus on grassroots initiatives our aim is to inspire people living in Ireland to #BeActive on a regular basis and showcase the opportunities they have on their doorstep throughout the year. Sport Ireland partner with National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships and other Sporting Organisations to deliver a number of flagship and #BeActive Night events throughout the country and promote nationwide initiatives. The European Week of Sport flagship events reflect Ireland’s National Sports Policy by supporting and promoting events, which target specific population groups including; women, people with a disability, migrants, older adults, young people and families as well as events which support the Get Ireland Walking, Get Ireland Running, Get Ireland Swimming, and Get Ireland Cycling themes. Sport Ireland will support and coordinate flagship events to include the following; - Family Sports Fest at the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus - National Fitness Day 2021 with Ireland Active - European School Sports Day Campaign 2021 with the Irish Primary PE Association - Virtual Family Mile event with Athletics Ireland - National Walking Day with Get Ireland Walking - Great Ireland Virtual Charity Bike Ride with Get Ireland Cycling Sport Ireland will emphasize supporting outdoor sports in 2021, and plan to engage with Canoeing Ireland, Swim Ireland, the Irish Orienteering Association, and the Irish Sailing Association, to support their delivery of outdoor sports events during 2021 European Week of Sport. Sport Ireland will work with a select number of Local Sports Partnerships to deliver a range of events around the country for #BeActive night on 25th September."
