European Week of Sport in Slovenia 2022 - 2023

The European Week of Sport initiative is part of an overall policy aiming at increasing the level of participation in sport and physical activity in the EU. In Slovenia EWoS is one of most important initiatives, implemented on national as well as in local level. In 2021, Slovenia hosted official opening of EWoS as part of Presidency of Slovenia to the Council of European Union. On the same date we celebrate also national holiday Slovenia Sport Day. More than 100 events are going to be implemented in 2022 and 2023 edition of EWoS. Olympic Committee of Slovenia leads activities as NCB. Besides local and national events, we will organize also main opening BeActive event, regional and local events, Olympic Festival - BeActive Sport Village and BeActive Night Event. We will organize media and communication campaign and try to pass the massage of BeActive among citizens in Slovenia. Important part of the project is also coordination of events of national sports federations, local sports federations and clubs. Also, coordination of activities of non-governmental organization and governmental institutions will be part of the program. According to specific priorities, we will promote also Healthy Life Style 4 All and European Year of Youth. Special focus will be put to events and activities that will connect different age groups and to promote gender equality. We will use synergy of other campaigns like HLS4A, Erasmus anniversary and European Year of Youth. We believe that using multiplying effects of the initiative, strong media campaign, promoting and presenting different options of physical activities including BeActive at Home, we will be able to increase number of active citizens and especially active youth. Especially youth can be very vulnerable target group and sport can be successful tool for social inclusion, wellbeing and quality life.
