Description
Description | EWBA project aims to promote physical activity in the workplace through a hybrid model, combining digital challenges over several months and large-scale sports events. By integrating workplace sports, companies can reduce absenteeism by 25% and increase employee productivity by 6-9%. Led by a consortium of nine organizations, including the European Federation for Company Sport (EFCS) and national sports federations from seven countries (France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Malta, and Spain) as well University of Copenhagen, it stands out for its ability to create new models of corporate sports events, particularly within the framework of the European Week of Sport (EWoS). Its objective is to combat workplace sedentary lifestyles by engaging companies and their employees in a well-being and physical activity dynamic as nearly 50% of Europeans never engage in physical exercise or sports, a number that has been steadily increasing since 2009 (Eurobarometer 2022). The project is structured around two key phases: a digital interactive program lasting five months and national physical events aligned with European Week of Sport The main activities include research on new trends in workplace sport, the creation of new multisport formats adapted to sedentary employees (e-sport, pickleball, teqball…), a final dissemination event, and a scientific evaluation and impact measurement framework led by the University of Copenhagen. The main deliverables include a white paper to influence public policies, a legacy report, a scientific publication, and a digital toolkit providing practical resources for companies. EWBA's innovation lies in its ability to establish a scalable and replicable model for workplace sport, with a scientific, inclusive, and sustainable commitment, fostering the evolution of corporate sports practices well beyond the project itself. |
