Description | The Center for European Union, Transatlantic, and Trans-European Space Studies (CEUTTSS) is Virginia Tech’s Jean Monnet Center of Excellence. CEUTTSS’ application for its EC grant renewal is based on two pillars. First, on a project entitled “Europeanization and De-Europeanization in the EU’s Neighbourhood.” The purpose of this project is twofold: first, to offer an up-to-date assessment of the effectiveness of the Europeanization process, its impact on the future of the EU, and its implications for European security; and second, to explore the content and nature of the de-Europeanization process. Second, CEUTTSS’ application includes a set of events/activities, such as: • The Annual Jean Monnet Lecture • The EU Ambassadors Series • The Gender Equality in Europe & Beyond Series • The Secondary Education Outreach Program • The Transatlantic Scholars Program • The Biennial Summer Workshop for K-12 educators • The Biennial Secondary Education Conference • The Annual European at a Crossroads Symposium and Model European Council • The Partnership with the Parallel Histories Program CEUTTSS’ events and research project’s target population and deliverables include the academia (publication of 3 edited volumes); policy-makers at the EU and national level (1+3 project reports and 3 policy papers); and the general public (regional and local civil society organizations, K-12 educators and students; state-based professional associations, and the media) (1+3 project reports and press releases). K-12 activities will produce new and innovative course material for K-12 students, as well as short films designed and produced by K-12 students.
