Description
Description | Poland's state-run energy company Orlen announced the construction of Europe's first small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) based on the BWRX-300 model developed by GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy. The project is a joint venture between Orlen and Synthos Green Energy called Orlen Synthos Green Energy (OSGE), which will manage the construction and operation of the reactors. The Włocławek site is of strategic importance, and the project aims to reduce Poland's dependence on coal by deploying at least two small modular reactors with a combined capacity of 0.6 gigawatts operational by 2035. |
