Description | The Greater Paris Sanitation Authority (SIAAP) and SUEZ have opened a new biogas production unit at the Seine Aval wastewater treatment plant, the largest of its kind in Europe. It treats wastewater from about six million residents in the Paris metropolitan area. The project involved modernization efforts including construction by Vinci subsidiary Chantiers Modernes Construction, and uses SUEZ's Digelis® Fast thermophilic process to convert sludge into fertilizer and renewable energy, producing up to 350 GWh annually and fulfilling 56% of the plant's energy needs. |
