Description
Description | Eurosite is a network of natural site managers. Eurosite’s mission is to maintain and enhance natural spaces across Europe and to develop a strong and effective community of European land conservation practitioners by helping them to network and exchange experience on the protection, restoration and stewardship of ecosystems and natural spaces. This project supports the implementation of Eurosite’s objectives as laid out in its Strategy 2021-2025. Work package 1 Organisational development – RESILIENCE ensures that Secretariat and Board have the necessary capacity, skillset, resources, incentives, flexibility, and long-term perspectives to deliver Eurosite’s mission. It will strengthen Eurosite’s financial capacity by diversifying income streams, improve communication with Eurosite members; and sharpen Eurosite’s profile for stakeholders and the public. Work package 2 Networking for Europe’s Nature – REACH deepens thematic cooperation and knowledge exchange among natural site managers through new Twinning initiatives on emerging issues such as nature-based climate solutions, health, integrated planning, and disaster control, expands Eurosite’s membership and geographic coverage, and establishes new strategic partnerships. Work package 3 Thematic cooperation for Natura 2000 – RELEVANCE supports the implementation of the EU Nature Directives and strengthens the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process by fostering the exchange of good practice in Eurosite’s Working Groups on Management Planning, Economics and Ecosystem, Wetlands and Climate Change, Remote Sensing, Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation, and Peatland Restoration. Work package 4 Eurosite and the EU institutions – RECOGNITION increases Eurosite’s presence at European level, increases public awareness for the importance of protecting and enhancing Europe’s ecosystems and their services, and encourages cooperation between site managers and farmers by promoting nature-friendly products from Natura 2000. |
