EUROTOPIA : preserving peace in the European Union The project will aim at sensitising students to their surrounding world as being European citizens today. Through activities and cultural visits, teenagers will gain further and better understanding of the European Union learning about its construction, its legacy after years of conflicts, its evolution and objectives for the nearer future. This will involve questioning the initial constitutive elements of Europe and will encourage critical thinking to suggest new aims for the future and democracy in a world shaken by new political trends. How to get the younger generation more involved in maintaining and building stronger European values and citizenship? 1.Learning about the foundations of European Institutions : history, institutions, famous emblematic leaders – Impact on a daily basis with current issues about Europe. Students go through research and group work, practice of reading skills and analysis of movies or documentaries. 2. Research and team work : The media and A.I within the European area: Eutopian generA.I.tion? How has A.I become part of young European citizens’ life ? How to understand European issues through the media? Critical thinking as a necessary tool to avoid biased points of view- a challenge to maintain peace in Europe. 3. Creative output : Peace keeping across Europe – new challenges / Art as a common tool for peace: Students learn more about the future visions of the EU. How can countries join the E.U? Learning about the E.U common foreign and security policies. Focus on Ukraine as future EU member. Discovering to what extent artists can raise awareness and become spokespersons for Europe . The project reaches its climax as students showcase a virtual European diplomatic dinner to parents, school members and local stakeholders. This will aim at convincing students that live communication remains the best weapon for democracy in a world surrounded by technology.
