The project focuses on mobilising the public at local and European level to open discussions on current issues on the European political programme. The aim is to strengthen mutual understanding, solidarity and common European values. The project connects a wide range of people from the partner cities, coming from different socio-economic backgrounds, genders and countries, to develop together opportunities for civic engagement at EU level. The project brings together partners from four EU Member States. The project responds to the needs and challenges of the target groups in the partner cities. The main objectives include: - Mobilising the public at local and European level through discussions on issues on the European political agenda and the future of Europe. - Providing its citizens practical experiences of the richness and diversity of the Union's common heritage, as well as of intercultural dialogue. - Strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between European citizens. - Promoting cohesion between citizens and cross-border solidarity. - Promoting quality local and regional governance and strengthening their role in the European integration process. - Exchanging best practices and strengthening cooperation between cities. The main target groups are citizens of the twin cities from all age ranges, with an accent on young people aged between 14 and 30. Children up to 14 years will be involved mainly through cultural and social events. The selection of target groups is based on a needs analysis, with an accent on gender equality, non-discrimination and the effective involvement of minorities, including marginalised groups and citizens at risk of social exclusion or disability.
