EUthentic Detectives – Fostering Media literacy of people who face cognitive challenges, their caregivers and young volunteers

EUthentic Detectives aims to foster the media literacy skills of people facing cognitive challenges (pCC) their caregivers (CG) and young people-volunteers (YV) in Europe and beyond. The partnership consisting of 8 cross-sectoral organizations, will develop an innovative media literacy practice-methodology adapted to the changing media environment scaling up the practices of partners organizations such as game-based learning, 1-1 companionship, co-creation for learning, and leveraging the materials & experience of previous projects such as Antirumour, ID GAMES, ESCAPERS. Our scope is to empower pCC, CG and YV to build their resilience to mis/disinformation across diverse themes, to get equipped to navigate to the media landscape and promote their active participation in the digital realm. To succeed this, we will: -create a cross-border & cross-sectoral alliance around EU promoting the inclusion of pCC, CG & YV in the new digital media era; -exchange ideas and good practices through a community of practice (CoP) and develop innovative methodology and educational toolkit (e-course, compilation of serious mystery/escape games and handbook on co-creation) that will be able to adapt to the changing media environment and respond to the needs of the key target groups; -build the capacity of trainers/educators/youth workers/caregivers/relevant professionals working with pCC, CG & YV on how to develop the critical thinking and the media literacy skills of pCC, CG & YV and transform them into ambassadors; -put in the centre of the media production the YV, CG and the pCC-who are at risk of social exclusion- and empower their critical thinking, digital and media literacy skills and creativity to foster ownership of their learning and expression as EUthentic Detectives; -promote the importance of media literacy and inclusion of everyone in the new media landscape through an advocacy campaign and different actions of the project in local national and EU level
