Description
Description | The project “Evaluation of the Latvian Whistleblowing Law” aims to evaluate and strengthen the effectiveness of the Latvian Whistleblowing Law and transposition of the Whistleblowing Directive through an ex-post review. The objective is to provide evidence-based recommendations for decision-makers and institutions responsible for the law and society as a whole. This evaluation is supported by the State Chancellery. Main project activities include: 1. Ex-post analyses and the report on the transposition of the Whistleblowing Directive, the application of the whistleblowing legislation in Latvia to identify any gaps or areas for improvement, as well as highlighting good practices that can serve as examples for other countries. 2. Contributing to the exchange of good practices at the European level, ensuring that valuable insights and experiences from Latvia are shared with other member states. This collaboration fosters continuous improvement and the adoption of effective whistleblowing mechanisms across Europe. 3. Raising public awareness in Latvia about whistleblowing as a mechanism that anyone can use to contribute to facilitating democracy. 4. Training persons working with whistleblowing reports (from NGOs, private sector etc), providing law interpretations, advice and protection to whistleblowers. Through seminars and conferences, we aim to reach a minimum of 270 individuals. Additionally, through our advocacy activities, we plan to inform at least 100 decision makers. Via social media, traditional media, and other communication channels, we will raise awareness among the general public and potential whistleblowers. Furthermore, through the communication channels of TI Latvia, the State Chancellery, and the TI network, as well as by organizing an international conference and participating in international events, we will ensure that the EU community is informed about the report and best practices implemented in Latvia. |
