Description
Description | The main idea of our project is to spread out the thoughts of the European Membership and Citizenship in a small town – in the Eastern part of the Czech Republic. Our school is located in a town with 11 000 inhabitants. As in other small towns in the Czech Republic, the EU is not really very popular among the citizens, maybe the main reason is the lack of relevant information about the EU in general, especially about details and advantages of being a member state of the EU. And this is what we would like to change and through this project we would like to contribute to a higher awareness of the EU. The best way how to start is to include the education of children and young people. Our project will take place in the following subjects taught at our school: geography, history, German, social studies, arts, music and biology. And so, our pupils will be able to get a comprehensive education and a complex picture of the EU. Besides the general information of the EU the mentioned subjects will include topics such as the history of the EU, the diversity of the member states and their citizens, sustainability, environmental protection, mobility and specific opportunities for the young generation within the EU. In the project we will implement not only traditional lessons but also lectures by external experts on the European Union, discussions, debates, workshops, quizzes, project days and other activities such as online meetings with foreign partner schools. It will contribute to increasing the pupils’ interest on the EU topics. We will lay emphasis on using the newest electronic technologies. All the documents and methodics will be created in an electronic form for appropriate monitoring and to be shared with other educational institutions and potential partner schools. By doing so the project will help to shape pupils’ attitudes to various issues in today´s complex times and develop their critical thinking as well as increase awareness of the European Union. |
