Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir Project

The Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir is a joint federal and state project aimed at restoring the Everglades ecosystem by storing excess lake water, cleaning it in a stormwater treatment area, and sending it south to Florida Bay. The project includes building a 6,500-acre stormwater treatment area by Florida and a 10,500-acre reservoir by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The reservoir will hold 78 billion gallons of water and is designed to reduce harmful discharges from Lake Okeechobee and provide clean freshwater to the Everglades and Florida Bay.
