Description | Exide Industries is developing a lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in Bengaluru to produce battery cells for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The plant is designed to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemistries in cylindrical and prismatic cell formats. The company has invested around Rs 4,800 crore and plans to invest an additional Rs 1,400 crore to complete the first phase. The plant is currently in the commissioning phase and is expected to start generating revenue from the third quarter of the fiscal year. Initial supplies will replace imported cells for three-wheeler and two-wheeler battery pack applications and OEMs, with commercial supplies for stationary lithium battery applications also targeted from Q3. |
