Expansion of Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) Connections in India

The project aims to significantly increase the number of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) connections in India using domestic production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Currently, India has about 11-12 million active PNG connections consuming three million metric standard cubic metres per day. With a present production capacity of 90 million metric standard cubic metres per day, the country can scale up connections substantially if domestic supply is prioritized. The initiative includes accelerating rollout and reactivation of connections, expediting pipeline expansion, and streamlining permissions to support rapid expansion and reduce reliance on liquefied petroleum gas cylinders.
