Description

Description

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission agreed to expand the firearm antlerless-elk season by two weeks in Unit H4B, which is almost entirely privately-owned property bordering the east side of Custer State Park. The antlerless-elk season will now run from October 1 through October 31, matching the any-elk season for the unit. The change does not affect the later-season hunt from December 1 through December 15. The licenses available remain at 40 any elk and 40 antlerless elk. The commission is also considering increasing the elk population objective in the Black Hills from 6,000 to 9,000 and has agreed to increase any-elk firearms licenses while reducing antlerless-elk firearms licenses for the fall season.
