Description
Description | Southpac Industrial Training Solutions Limited (Southpac) is a small training institution located in Port Moresby where people are trained and skilled to serve various industries that need their skills and knowledge. Southpac was established in 2012 to fill in the critical technical skills gap in the workforce by producing specialized people. Due to a boom in the construction, mineral, and energy extraction sectors in the last few years, skilled workers have been in very highly demanded. With the current government's plans to start up huge impact projects in the extractive sectors from 2023 and beyond, industrial skills training has been seen as an important step to prepare the workforce in a country that is full of abundant natural resources. As a developing country, PNG needs skilled people to be creative and innovative and participate in the development process of this country. The country needs technical and skilled people in the resources sectors and the purpose of this project is to expand the capacity of this institution to train and fill in the skills gap missing. The success of this project would further create employment opportunities and meet the market demand in both resource and non-resource sectors in PNG. More women and youths will be upskilled and trained through this project and empowered with invaluable skills and knowledge to have a direct impact in the technical field, especially in the growing construction and mining sectors. Southpac is seeking potential investors to partner in this project to establish additional training facilities and also purchase new equipment for training purposes. Other collaborations also sough are market access for skilled graduates, access to materials/equipment, technology, and know-how expertise, and joint research and development. |
