Description

Description

As part of the project, the capacity of the solar power plant in Boundiali, which was built as part of the FZ project Energy for Sustainable Development Solar Power Plant for Côte d'Ivoire, is to be expanded by up to 45.6 MWp. This is intended to contribute to an efficient, reliable and long-term secure as well as environmentally friendly and climate-friendly power supply to increase the share of renewable energies in the energy mix in Côte d'Ivoire. With a total capacity of around 80 MWp, the Boundiali solar power plant would then make a substantial contribution to the regional expansion goals of the WAPP. Côte d'Ivoire has very high natural potential for the use of solar energy. Depending on the region, the number of hours of sunshine is between 2,000 and 2,700 hours per year (compared to Germany between 1,400 and 1,700 hours). So far, however, Côte d'Ivoire has only used a fraction of this potential. In order to meet the increasing energy needs of the rapidly growing population and to put energy production on a sustainable and broader basis, the state energy company Côte dIvoire Energies (CI-ENERGIES) is planning to install a grid-connected solar power plant in Boundiali in the north of the country. In the medium term, the planned solar power plant will contribute to a reliable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy supply in Côte dIvoire and thus contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in the long term. Since the additional electricity also benefits social institutions such as hospitals and schools, corresponding services can be improved or expanded. The private sector also benefits from a more reliable and cost-effective electricity supply for production and employment.
