Several Indian companies have expanded solar module capacity over the past three years, targeting exports to the United States. The clean energy ministry has cautioned lenders to be cautious in financing new standalone solar PV module manufacturing capacity due to potential oversupply in the local market. The ministry suggests prioritizing funding for integrated facilities producing solar cells, ingots, wafers, and polysilicon to reduce reliance on imports from China.
