Description

The objective of the program is to contribute to the Colombian government¿s strategy of reducing poverty and extreme poverty in the medium term by temporarily increasing consumption and raising the level of human capital for at least 1.5 million poor families through support for the expansion of Familias en Acción. The overall objective of this second phase of the program is to help to raise income and promote human capital accumulation in families living in poverty (SISBEN I and displaced persons). The specific objectives are: (i) to supplement the income of poor urban families with children under 18 years; (ii) to promote human capital formation by increasing the use of early childhood development, educational, and health care services; (iii) to improve program quality through continued strengthening of its technical management tools; and (iv) to modify the design of Familias en Acción in accordance with the findings of the evaluation agenda under way.
