Description
Description | Texas-based Aalo Atomics built the world's first experimental extra modular nuclear reactor on a 1-acre parcel inside the Idaho National Lab's Materials and Fuels Complex. The reactor and its 3,600-square-foot building were completed ahead of schedule, with fuel expected to arrive soon and the reactor going online before July 4. It will be fully operational next year alongside a data center for nuclear and AI projects. The site will generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 10,000 homes, and uses liquid metal coolant with air-cooled condensers, consuming no water. |
