Experimental project of OJA in Spain

Design an experimental national official statistic supported by the work currently led at European level by the Web-Intelligence Hub (WIH) and building on the methodological and quality assurance work of the Web-Intelligence Network (WIN), for the specific use case of online job advertisements (OJA) and complemented with national web sources for its production if necessary. The ‘WIH OJA microdata’ for Spain will be deeply studied as well as the NLP techniques, algorithms and tools used and developed in this platform. After that, the compilation of statistics based on web data OJA from WIH should be carried out. The aggregates obtained will be checked against the results of the national job vacancies statistics. These results will be enriched by including national websites job advertisements if under-coverage is detected in the previous stage. This will be done by building on and improving, if possible, the established infrastructure, tools and methodology and by testing and improving the quality of the data produced by WIH and WIN (as available). Contact with other NSIs in the European Statistical System to exchange and share knowledge from all perspectives (subject-matter, methodology, technology) is foreseen. A dedicated space has been created on a Github website: https://gitlab.ine.es. The final output will be a new experimental national statistic based on web data to complement the results of the current survey disseminating data providing breakdowns by occupation and region. It would provide policy makers and social partners, at national and European level, with indicators on labour shortages and monitor their evolution over time.
