Description | "Proposal EUCTIRL provides research-led excellence in teaching and learning at the intersection of two fundamental areas of EU policy - the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (formerly known as Justice and Home Affairs) and EU counter-terrorism policy and law (also within the CFSP, notably in relation to counter-terrorist financing) - through an international cross-section of doctoral, post-graduate and graduate students. The objective is pursued by advancing cutting-edge blended learning formats, distance-learning, strong inter-disciplinarity, policy relevance by creating three new courses (including distance and blended learning) and contributing to the creation of a European integration Centre of Excellence in Terrorism and Security in the EU – the first such hub in Ireland, and one of the very few in Europe as a whole. The ""EUCTIRL"" application is structured around the following outputs: 1. The development of 1 course ‘Counterterrorism in Europe’, integrated to be distance-learning and blended-learning ready 2. The development of 2 traditional courses, Introduction to European integration & Issues in European integration, integrating Simulation exercises (PBL) within the teaching methodology 3. The development of a summer school ‘EU Counter-Terrorism’, integrated to be distance-learning and blended-learning ready and integrating Simulation exercises (PBL) within the teaching methodology 4. 4 research webinars per academic year within the European Security, Terrorism and Intelligence research series & 1 Jean Monnet Lecture on the same theme, enhancing the aforementioned teaching activities 5. 1 EuroSIM event activity per year for students of Dublin City University to simulate the EU with other students from Europe and the USA 6. 1 book series on European, Security and Justice Critiques with the Publisher Edward Elgar 7. 1 website linked to EU Justice and Home Affairs 8. Research books and other publications in Justice and Home Affairs" |
