To support the design and implementation of policies for the extension of the school day in LAC, targeting the following areas: (i) enhance and diversify learning opportunities; (ii) data-informed decision making; and (iii) innovative teaching strategies, while promoting gender equality.In accordance with the countries' needs and demands, the specific objective of the Facility is to increase public administrations' capacities to formulate, implement, monitor, and evaluate public policies programs for extended school day (ESD), considering the gender dimension. This specific objective implies supporting countries acquire in-depth knowledge of the opportunities of ESD, identify existing institutional, legal, financing and operational challenges to address them, and develop policies, programs and models of interventions to address such needs; as well as fostering gender sensitive and climate-sensitive ESD programs.
