Lockheed Martin is developing stealthy external fuel tanks and underwing infrared sensor pods for the F-22 Raptor to address its range limitations. These new tanks are designed to retain low observability and remain attached throughout missions, extending the aircraft's combat radius by approximately 850 nautical miles without compromising stealth. The upgrade aims to reduce dependence on vulnerable aerial refueling tankers and enhance the F-22's operational reach, especially in contested environments like the Indo-Pacific.
