Description

Description

Facts not Fiction will equip young people across Europe with the tools and knowledge to actively and critically engage with the history of the Nazi persecution by training them as public historians. Young people will be at the centre of the project because of their potential to reach and mobilise the wider public. Approaching the histories of the victims of the National Socialists, local teams formed by youth and teachers will uncover and research the untold stories from their local communities together in collaboration with museums, archives and memorial sites. By applying a tested methodology based on place-based learning, peer learning and youth empowerment, young people will be empowered to share their knowledge with their communities and invite a broader audience to reflect on what we can learn from the past. The project comprises a series of activities to achieve its goal: Expert training activities for museum educators, archivists and tour guides International training for both teachers and youth Expert training activities for podcasters, museum curators and graphic novelists Impact and awareness-raising activities led and organised by the youth Online youth gatherings Ethnographic research activities A vast range of stakeholders will be involved in the activities, such as decision-makers, rights defenders, local administrators and law enforcement, together with educators and experts working on the field of Holocaust and intercultural education. The project will result in several concrete outputs that will have a lasting effect. These include a digital platform where the local teams will upload their storyboards and final end-products, tutorials by experts on how to engage with youth in museums and memory sites, and animations developed by experts for the younger audience to know how to organise a podcast, graphic novel and exhibition. The Consortium is formed by EuroClio, Terraforming, the Intercultural Institute of Timișoara and the Arolsen Archives.
