Description | Objectives: FAIRNESS (1) promotes a balanced harmonisation of the Member States’ (MS) legal practices in relation to the implementation of several EU Directives (2016/343, 2016/800, 2016/1919, 2013/48/EU) when suspected or accused persons are involved in terror-related crimes or radicalisation; (2) explores the coherence between the ‘spirit’ and previsions of the ‘Stockholm’s Roadmap’ contrasted with investigative and preventive practices (including Directive 2014/41/EU, and Council Framework Decisions 2002/584/JHA) involving suspects or accused persons for crimes related to terrorism in the pre-trial stage. Activities: 5 WPs. 1. Management; 2. Legal cases and national questionnaires; 3. Research; 4. Communities of Practices (CoPs); 5. Delivery and dissemination. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project:=/>500 among judges, courts, investigative judges, public prosecutors, and lawyers; 200 LEAs; 200 prison police, prison staff and surveillance judges/courts; 300 legal experts (criminologists, lawyers, etc.), 100 NGOs and Journalists; 100 legal experts in the CoPs (WP4), 80 trainers (WP5), 25 legal stakeholders (Task 2.3). Expected results: (1) improved knowledge, legal harmonisation and capacities on the legislation and practices on the Stockholm Roadmap for suspects and accused persons of terror-related crimes; (2) strengthened cooperation and exchange of best practices in relation to the rights of persons suspected or accused of terror-related crime; (3) improved cooperation of legal authorities with NGOs and media and professional organisations in the field of the rights of persons suspected or accused of terror-related crime. Type and number of deliverables to be produced: WP2: 2 quantitative and qualitative surveys, 1 vision report, WP3: 3 comparative legal researches, WP4: 5 Communities of Practice, guidelines, 4 training modules, 12 factsheets, 1 toolkit; WP5: media campaign, 4 courses and 2 intl. conferences. |
