Description
Description | FAIRway Danube II is a transnational project (twin Actions 22-EU-TC -FAIRway Danube II and 22-EU-TG-FAIRway Danube II) with the involvement of Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania. It aims at ensuring compliance of the Danube with the requirements for inland waterways transport infrastructure as stated in Art. 15/3 of Regulation (EU) No 1315/2013 (TEN-T Regulation), specifically with the minimum requirements concerning navigation channel depth to preserve a Good Navigation Status (GNS). The project will also contribute to the implementation of the Fairway Rehabilitation and Maintenance Master Plan which was confirmed by 10 Danube Ministers of Transport (June 2022) and which is also referred to in the Rhine-Danube Corridor Fifth Work Plan of the European Coordinator. In order to achieve its objectives the project will : • deploy fixed and mobile sensors required for monitoring of Good Navigation Status; • upgrade water level forecast, national waterway management systems and transnational monitoring system (WAMOS 2.0); • deploy pilots making use of flexible infrastructure elements for enhancing low water resilience; and • upgrade infrastructure for mooring operations in 6 locations. |
