Falls City City-Owned Power Plant

The City of Falls City is pursuing a feasibility study for a new city-owned power plant potentially linked to the Mid-America Rail Campus and Nebraska's bio-economy. The project is in early exploration and aims to serve Southwest Power Pool regional markets from North Dakota to Texas. The power plant will utilize emerging technologies, excluding wind, solar, or coal. The city will own the plant and the underlying land will be locally owned. The project includes a Community Benefits Agreement to ensure local workforce participation, local hiring, local business contracting, community scholarships, and ongoing community engagement.
