Description
Description | As it is important not to increase the administrative burden of SMEs, Statistics Denmark has designed this project in such a way that only existing administrative or statistical registers will be used – avoiding new surveys to establish statistics on family businesses. Statistics Denmark will utilise the following administrative and statistical registers to produce a register based statistics on family businesses: The Statistical Business Register, The administrative Business Register, Statistical register on Structural Business Statistics, The administrative register on owners of limited companies, the statistical register on persons. The production system will be designed in such a way that the statistics can be updated and statistics on family businesses in Denmark produced annually. Official statistics on family businesses has never been produced as Statistics Denmark only publishes enterprise statistics broken down by legal form, e.g. information about personally owned enterprises. A main reason is that the administrative Owner Register has been established in 2015. Family businesses will be defined using the definition adopted by the European Commission in 2007, as specified in the grant call, to the extent possible. The starting point will be the Statistical Business Register holding information about all active enterprises in Denmark. The project will cover all enterprises in the non-financial private sector as covered by the Regulation on Structural Business Statistics. Work Package 2 will utilise the data sets established in Work Package 1 to produce the statistical output: No. of family businesses, total employment in these enterprises, total turnover and value added created by these enterprises. Output will show both actual values and shares of all enterprises in Denmark. The output will cover the statistical years 2005- 2014. Work Package 3 aims to promote the new statistics by holding a workshop for relevant stakeholders. |
